First MAC Event Sold Out

Saturday, April 17th, a day the Men's Action Committee will remember. Their first major event, Taxi Zum Klo, presented in cooperation with the Cleveland International Film Festival was S.R.O. Members of M.A.C. started the day by hosting a luncheon at Heck's Ohio City for Frank Ripploh, star and director of the movie. Various aspects of the film and differences in culture were discussed. Frank stated that a gay person in Germany is protected from discrimination if he is willing to stand up and fight. Ripploh went on to express, "there is no need for gay organizations, gays need to interact more with the straight community." The evening continued with the first Cleveland showing of Taxi at the Cedar-Lee Theater. (See movie review this issue.) Over 10% of the 900 patrons had purchased their tickets through M.A.C. Ticket profits and member donations will be used to seed future events.

Beginning in May M.A.C. has taken over sponsoring the monthly Pot Luck Dinners held on the fourth Saturday of the month at the GEAR Center.

M.A.C. is a social and service of the GEAR Foundation. Meetings are held the second Friday of the month at 7 P.M. at the Community Center. For more information about events or meetings call: 621-3380.
